II Module of the Regional Liberal Political Academy (RLPA) completed

Foundation Boris Divkovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with CIS (Centre Party International Foundation) from Sweden organizes annual political educational program intended for the young adults from the liberal political parties of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Serbia, Republic of Croatia, Montenegro and Republic of Macedonia. The Academy consists of tree modules, one of which includes a study visit to the EU Parliament in November 2016. The outcome of the Academy is to have participants prepare the implementation of the projects by the end of the Academy. The goal of this Academy is the empowerment of the young, politically active, adults with the knowledge and skills useful for their further political engagements not only within their political parties, but in the overall politics of their home countries as well. A special attention is drawn to the education that is in accordance with the liberal political ideology, history and methods in which it manifests in the regional countries.

In the period from October 4 to October 9, the second module of the Academy was held on Bjelasnica mountain, and this time the program covered the topics that relate 14517660_528102974044937_9157597727709652176_nto the liberal ideas in society and politics, including: the impact of the visual identity on election results, the propaganda, the structure and communication of the political messages, the role of media in political processes, the specificity of political communication in election process, the political contexts, the election process from 1990s to today, the role of women in politics in Bosnia and Herzegovina and region, the use of sensitive gender-related terms in political communication, the gender components within political creations and the elements of running successful election campaign.

The lecturers of the second module are experts in the field of political science, and from the Department of Political Science, University of Sarajevo, they included Dr. Valida Repovac Niksic, Assistant Professor, Dr. Damir Kapidzic, Assistant Professor, Dr. Esref Kenan Rasidagic, Associate Professor, Dr. Lejla Turcilo, Professor, then, Nedim Jahic, the Department of Communication of Nasa Stranka; Dina Durakovic, member of Presidency of Nasa Stranka; Sabina Cudic, Vice-president of Nasa Stranka; and Tomislav Damnjanovic, election campaign consultant; experts in the field of arts included Amra Zulfikarpasic, Professor, Academy of Fine Arts, University of Sarajevo; Bojan Hadzihalilovic, graphic designer and the Director of the marketing agency Fabrika; Andres Rehanberg, Vice-president of IFLRY; and Sandra Zlotrg, Executive Director of the Association of Linguists.

  • from Bosnia and Herzegovina: Nasa Stranka (NS),
  • from Republic of Serbia: Liberal-Democratic Party (LDP) and Nova Stranka,
  • from Republic of Croatia: Hrvatska demokratska stranka (HNS) and Istarski Demokratski Savez (IDS),
  • from Montenegro: Liberalna partija Crne Gore (LPCG) and
  • from Republic of Macedonia: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

The important segment of this political academy is the practical component of interactive lectures and workshops during which the participants have had the opportunity to individually create the programs and activities important for their own future political engagement. This academy has also given the possibility of meeting young members of regional political parties who share the same political views and thus help strengthen liberal political practices in the region.
